A Message to the President
His Excellency
Yoweri Museveni
With great respect and admiration, I present this book, The Museveni I Know, as a humble reflection on the leadership journey that has shaped Uganda over the past four decades.
Uganda’s transformation from a period of instability to a nation striving for stability, security, and development is a story that cannot be told without recognizing your leadership and the revolutionary ideals that guided the National Resistance Movement.
For many Ugandans of my generation, the history of the liberation struggle and the rebuilding of national institutions is something we grew up hearing about. Yet the deeper lessons of discipline, ideology, resilience, and strategic thinking behind that journey are rarely fully documented for young people to understand. It is with this motivation that I undertook the writing of this book.
The Museveni I Know attempts to capture reflections on your leadership philosophy, your commitment to Pan-Africanism, and your belief in building strong national institutions that can sustain Uganda’s future.
This work is not written as an official account of history, but rather as a personal contribution to documenting the values and leadership lessons that have defined Uganda’s modern journey.
I hope that this book will inspire young Ugandans to understand the importance of patriotism, national service, and disciplined leadership in building a strong nation.
Your Excellency, this book is therefore presented with deep respect and appreciation for the role you have played in shaping Uganda’s history. May it contribute, in a small way, to preserving the lessons of leadership for future generations.
May God continue to bless and guide you with wisdom and strength as you lead our nation, and may the Almighty continue to bless the Republic of Uganda with peace, unity and prosperity.
Respectfully,
Abel Mwenda
